Elizabeth Ann Potts

 

In loving memory of Elizabeth Ann, the beloved wife of John Potts, who died December 23rd, 1920, in her 65th year, The Lord is my shepherd. Also, of John husband of the above who died March 17th, 1931, aged 78 years. Also, of their three sons William Goodwin Potts who died October 17th, 1917, aged 24 years. Frank Potts who died March 17th, 1931, aged 36 years. Albert Edward Potts who died August 7th, 1922, aged 26 years.

In the 1861 Census John Potts is listed as living in Great Whyte, Ramsey, with his parents, John and Jane, and his siblings William, Emma, Eliza, and Betsy.

 

John married Elizabeth Deacon in 1877 and the 1881 Census has them living in Great Whyte, Ramsey, with three children: James Herbert, Gertrude Ann and an unnamed infant aged 2 months.

 

1891 Census lists John as a turf dealer, born in Ramsey. Elizabeth Ann is being shown as being born in Boston, Lincolnshire. All the children were born in Ramsey: James Herbert, Arthur John, Heeds, George Dealen, Gertrude Ann, Hetty Elizabeth, and a nephew William Marriot (an agricultural labourer).
