Sarah Garton

In loving memory of Sarah the beloved wife of Thomas Garton who died December 7th 1910 aged 66 years. Also, of Thomas Garton who died August 1st, 1918, aged 77 years. Peace perfect peace. Also, of Alfred Jeremiah Garton who died December 15th, 1947, aged 78 years. Rest in peace.

The 1871 Census shows a Thomas, Sarah and Alfred living in Mill Street, Wistow.

By 1881 they had moved to Bury Hill Farm Cottage, along with their other children Walter, Herbert, Martha and William.

The 1891 Census lists Thomas as an agricultural labourer and as being born in Wistow, with Sarah being born in Bury. With them was Alfred J (22, b Wistow), Walter (19, b Wistow), Hubert (17, b Wistow) Martha A D (14, b Ramsey), William (12, b Bury), Arthur (8, b Bury), Thomas (4, b Ramsey) and Jeremiah Richardson (father-in-law, 73, born Bury).
